Every 20 years the voters of New York State are faced with a ballot question that can has the potential to drastically change their way of life.  Most citizens do not know that this year there will be a referendum on the ballot.  Very few people even understand the impact of their vote.

On November 7, 2017 voters will be asked, “Should a convention be convened to revise and amend the New York State Constitution”.

All public sector employees and those that have retired from such employment should vote NO to this question!

If this convention is held public employee pensions are at risk.  The right to organize as a union and to collectively bargain contracts can be stripped away from public sector employees.

If this convention is convened it will cost tax payers at least 330 million dollars.  A convention could strip the powers of our legislature and create an imbalance of political power.

It is critically important that we all do our part to educate ourselves, our families and, our friends on this issue.  There is a multitude of heavily funded advocates that are pushing an agenda calling for this convention.  These groups want to weaken worker’s rights and create a “Right to Work” state.  Our best chances to maintain our way of life is to rally all past and present public sector employees to vote NO

The PBA has magnetic bumper stickers stating our position on this ballot question.  If you have one, put it on your car.  If you need one stop down to our office and pick one up.
