In March of 2018, Chief Thomas Moran of the Buffalo Police Department passed away after a brief illness, ending his life of dedication, hard work, loyalty and compassion. Chief Tom Moran, only 49 years old, was a highly decorated 25-year member of the Buffalo Police Department, serving the citizens of Buffalo as a patrol officer, Lieutenant, URT Commander and Chief of A District for the past 5 years. He was beloved by his fellow officers, not only for his untiring efforts on their behalf, but also for the genuine kindness he showed people throughout his career.

Tom was the adoring husband of Kelly for the past twenty years, and the proud dad of Ava (13) and Lila (8). Tom's precious girls were the cornerstone of his life and the focus of his love. He worked as he lived - putting others before himself, and in turn earning the respect and admiration of all. His time with us was shortened but his loving memory endures. Tom's unexpected passing has devastated his family, friends, and the entire WNY police community.

It is for this reason that we are requesting your support and generosity to help the family of a man who has given so much to others. A celebration of Tom's life and legacy is being held to assist his family with the financial burdens that occur with the sudden loss of a loving husband and dad. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated for this special event, honoring a man who will always hold a dear place in so many hearts.

THE MISSION OF THE BUFFALO POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION

These are just some of mandates by which the PBA operates.  The PBA operates almost entirely for the benefit of its membership.

  1. To negotiate collectively with the City of Buffalo on behalf of the Police Officers employed by the City of Buffalo.

  2. To promote greater acknowledgement from the public of Buffalo Police Officers as members of their profession.

  3. To serve as a conduit for exchanging information amongst the members of the association on matters of common interest.

  4. To give aid and assistance to Police Officers and Police Associations wherever possible.

The PBA does not comment to the media on personnel issues, especially those that are under investigation by the Buffalo Police Internal Affairs Bureau, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office or any federal investigative agency.

The Executive Staff of the PBA is comprised of active duty Police Officers and we firmly believe in the presumption of innocence; which is the corner stone of this country’s criminal justice system.  As such, it would not be appropriate for the PBA to comment on any matter where one of its members might be accused of some wrong doing.
